The Coeur d’Alene Arts & Culture Alliance once again brings the Kids Draw Architecture program to Coeur d’Alene.

Originally developed with the assistance of the Architecture Foundation in Santa Barbara, Calif., Kids Draw Architecture is an opportunity for aspiring artists and architects to work with local experts as they walk through downtown Coeur d’Alene and sketch local architecture. An exhibit of the original drawings will be at the Human Rights Education Institute.

The day begins with an overview by Kevin Jester from Architects West, followed by a group session on sketching architecture. Kids then will split into smaller groups to work with area experts, architects and artists to do on-site sketches. Best sketches from each participant will be put on display. Families are then invited to come to a pizza party and view the exhibit.

The event takes place from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Human Rights Education Institute, with the pizza party following from 4-5 p.m. The cost is $10 each for kids 7 and older and includes drawing materials, snacks, water and pizza. Scholarships are available. Registration deadline has been extended to Thursday, Oct. 8. To register, visit the website artsincda.org/kids-draw-architecture and click on the “Register Now” link. Registration is limited, so sign up early.

For scholarship and other information, contact Ali Shute at (208) 292-1629 or [email protected].

Kids Draw Architecture is sponsored by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
