Open burning will begin October 1, 2015. A burn permit is not required, but you must call air quality before you burn (751-8144). We ask people to still be careful. We recommend around the area which you plan to burn, have a water source available and if we have a windy day, it would be best to wait. It is still extremely dry!!! It would be best to wait until we get some moisture. Opening burning will run through November 30, 2015.
The month of October is Fire Prevention Month. The theme for this year is “Hear the Beep where you sleep: Every bedroom needs a working smoke alarm”. Bigfork Fire Department will be involved in the following activities:
October 7, Bigfork Fire Station6:30pm -8:00pm
Bring the kids! Pick up a smoke detector and Tour the Station and Apparatus
October 8, Swan River School, 9 to 10:30am
October 9, Bigfork Elementary, 9 to 10:30am
Bigfork Fire Department would like to thank the community for your support of our 9/11 stand. We received $942 in donations and this money has been given to support the “National Fallen Firefighters Foundation”. Thank you to those who contributed to the FOBF fundraiser. It was a great success.
Bigfork Fire Department responded to fifty-five (55) incidents as of September 28: Emergency medical service (7), EMS Call, excluding vehicle accident with injury (36), Motor vehicle accident with injuries (1), Motor vehicle accident with no injuries (1), Power line down (1), unauthorized burning (1), Dispatched and cancelled en route (1). Authorized controlled burning (1), False alarm (2), Smoke detector activation due to malfunction (1), Smoke detector activation, no fire-unintentional (1).

Open burning closed as July heats up
As of July 1, 2014, open burning will be closed until Oct. 1, 2014. Recreational campfires will be allowed. They must be no bigger than 4’ x 4’ x 4’ and in a fire ring.
