Charlo defeats Arlee, Polson wins third match

Local volleyball teams had a busy week, with Arlee and Ronan celebrating homecoming, Charlo having their senior night, and Mission playing three matches. Polson was a little less busy, with only one match last week.
Ronan
This past week, Ronan had their homecoming celebration. Last Tuesday, the Maidens hosted Loyola. They struggled against the hard-hitting Breakers, losing in three. Ashley Peterson led the attack with three kills, and three others had two. Sadie Wirz led the defense with 17 digs, and Peterson added four blocks. Four Maidens had aces, and Shaina Snyder led the assist stats with seven.
On Thursday, Ronan hosted Florence. The Maidens struggled again, losing in three games. Sadie Wirz had 13 digs, and Alex Dennis added 10. Peterson once again led the attack with five kills. Lee Camel had two blocks, and Wirz had six aces.
Ronan hosts Anaconda on Thursday.

Mission
The St. Ignatius Bulldogs had a busy week, with games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Thursday, they traveled to Charlo, where they were playing without one of their best back row players, Ran’dee Charlo. They were defeated in three games by a scrappy Vikings team. Haley Carroll had six kills for the Bulldogs, Jordyn Eichert had eight assists, and Afton Brander had two blocks.
On Friday, Mission hosted Stillwater Christian. They would struggle again, losing in three games. Sydney Castor led the Bulldogs with three aces, six kills, and a block. Jordyn Eichert had 12 assists, and Nalani Linsebigler had 16 digs.
On Saturday, they hosted Deer Lodge. The Bulldogs gave them a good run, staying within four points in two of the three games. However, the Wardens were too much for Mission, winning in three. Sophie Tobert had three aces, Sydney Castor had eighth kills, Afton Brander had two blocks, and both Nalani Linsebigler and Daisie VandenBos had 10 digs.

Polson
In Stevensville on Saturday, the Pirates dropped their first game before making a comeback to take the match. The win was their third of the season, and their second against Stevensville. Chadelle Smith had 12 kills for the Pirates, and Lauren Lefthand added 10. Marlee Congdon added 2 aces, and Erin Sampson led the team with 37 assists. Nicole Lake, Lauren Lefthand and Haley Fyant all had blocks for Polson. Polson takes on Frenchtown at home on Thursday.

Charlo
The Charlo Vikings also had a busy week, first traveling to Arlee on Tuesday to take on their conference rival, then hosting Mission on Thursday and celebrating their senior night on Saturday. They won all three games, with their most important one coming on Tuesday to Arlee. In that game, Charlo took on an athletic group of front row hitters, but were able to use their scrappy defense to win in three games.
On Thursday, the Vikings made quick work of Mission, winning in three, even without one of their top players, Cheyenne Nagy, who sat out with an ankle injury. Freshman Kaitlin Cox stepped up for the team, leading the offensive attack with 13 kills. She also had three aces, and fellow freshman Teaira Truman added two. Allie Delaney had 25 digs, Brooklyn Foust had five blocks and nine assists, and Mikaylan Roylance had 18 assists.
On Saturday, Charlo had their senior night game against Superior. Cox again led the attack with 10 kills, Nagy added four blocks, and Jaycee Andersen had six aces. Truman had 15 digs for the team.
Charlo played Plains on Tuesday and travels to Noxon on Thursday.

Arlee
Arlee celebrated their homecoming last week, hosting Charlo on Tuesday, then Two Eagle River on Saturday.
On Tuesday, The Scarlets lost to Charlo in three games, although the score may not have reflected the competition itself, which was much more exciting than the score states. In the first game, Arlee made a comeback after falling behind early. Bryndle Goyins led that comeback with around seven straight serves, including a few aces. However, it wouldn’t quite be enough, and Charlo took the first by a score of 25-17. In the second, Arlee started out strong, going up by four points at one point. This time, it was Charlo’s turn for a comeback, and they won the second by a score of 25-22. In the third, Arlee went up early again, but Charlo was able to hang with them, and took the third by a score of 25-23.
On Saturday, the Scarlets had an easier time with Two Eagle River. Carly Hergett and Ashley Revis each had seven kills, and Hergett added two blocks. Abby Yocum had six digs, Becca Whitesell had 21 assists, and Bryndle Goyins had six aces.
For the Eagles, Tyra Michel had six assists and one block. Wunderlich had four aces and six assists, and Mendoza had three kills plus three digs.
