Employees successful in foot chase

Theft prevention employees chased a man who allegedly stole Bluetooth speakers and other electronics from a retail store, so that the Kalispell Police Department could cite him. The foot pursuit along Hutton Ranch Road included the thief shedding his sweatshirt and climbing on top of Flathead Valley Community College building.
Panhandlers were willing to watch after four bags and a cardboard sign alongside U.S. 93 that allegedly belonged to a transient friend, after a nearby business complained about the debris.
A woman on Fairway Boulevard reported that a man in his late 20s came to her door and told her he was trying to sell religious books to raise money for college. The woman told him that she did not want to purchase the books and closed the door. The man continued to knock loudly on the door and aggressively ask her for money. Officers performed extra patrol.
A Bluetooth speaker was reportedly taken from a bedroom on Appleway Drive. Burglars left the window open and left things askew, but nothing else was taken.
A motorcycle was reported stolen from Fifth Avenue West.
A neighbor found a woman lying in the middle of 12th Avenue West, crying and saying that she had been beaten by her boyfriend. Officers arrived and determined that the woman had been thrown out of the house after a temper tantrum. No crime occurred.
Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies counseled a man who called and asked how he could determine if restrictions were still in place preventing him from owning firearms. The man had a prior conviction for partner/family member assault in Washington and wanted to know if he could go hunting.
A missing 2-year-old was found safe by deputies about a mile from the child’s home on Bear Street in Coram.
A man was arrested at a Ninth Street West address after a call about someone wielding a knife. A Taser was deployed and the man was taken to jail.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after he allegedly came in through his girlfriend’s window and assaulted the woman at a residence on U.S. 2.
Whitefish police advised a woman of her options after she called to ask what could be done after her ex-partner stole a check from her in British Columbia. She believed the person cashed the check in Whitefish.
Columbia Falls Police Department told a concerned citizen that it was OK for people to set up cans and shoot rifles on Eighth Avenue East North.
