The Libby girls soccer team traveled to Polson and battled the Lady Pirates on their senior night. The Lady Loggers scored once and held their opponents scoreless in the first half of play, but the Lady Pirates poured it on in the second half, scoring six goals to carry the day.

Libby’s Shannon Reny continued her superlative defensive season, racking up 26 saves. The Montana High School Association lists number of saves as a record category, but has no record on the books or data about such a record.

Anna Carlson hit a 10-foot direct kick over the outstretched arm of Polson’s goalkeeper to score Libby’s goal in the first half.

The Lady Loggers have yet to win and have just one game remaining in the season. Even still, coach Joe Cik considers the season a success and praised the effort of his team.

“The season was a wonderful success considering we were struggling at the beginning, just to field a team,” Cik said. “The ladies never gave up, and never got down on each other. The fact that we scored goals against teams we traditionally haven’t  in the past speaks volumes to how far the ladies have come as a team.  I am proud to have been given the honor and privilege to have coached this team, and I only see good things for the future.”

The Lady Loggers wrap up their season at home against Bigfork at 4 p.m. Saturday in their Homecoming match.
