HOT SPRINGS – The Lady Savage Heat came home victorious Friday after their five set game against the Superior Lady Bobcats.

The game was close, going back and forth on who was ahead constantly. The teams appeared evenly matched with Superior claiming a close 22-25 victory in the first set. Hot Springs then pushed ahead in the second set for an equally close 25-23 win. In the third set, the Lady Bobcats were able to break through the Lady Savage Heat’s defense, though, claiming their second win with a score of 17-25.

However, the fourth set saw Hot Springs come back and push ahead, breaking Superior’s defense to claim their own 25-17 win. In the fifth set, the teams fought a close match; however, the Hot Springs girls were able to edge out the home team to claim a close 15-13 victory.

Head Coach Alisha Pablo felt it was a good game and both teams played well. She said it was intense and exciting as everything began to click for the girls.

“They played really well,” she said. “Everything was quick, they were hitting, they were blocking, their coverage was really good, their serves were spot on … it was really fun.”

The coach recalled the stats were very spread out and everyone contributed lots of good plays. Pablo recalled Makenzi Skellenger was a key player in their defense and Sophie Jefferies was their leader in kills, making 27 over the course of the match.

This week, Hot Springs will be playing against the Plains Trotters and the Noxon Lady Red Devils. Pablo said they would need to work on their net play and blocking before the next games.
