Arthur Moore, 93
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 3 months AGO
Arthur Moore, 93, longtime resident of Nordman, Idaho, passed away Sept. 27, 2015, at Life Care Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Art was born on June 22, 1922, in Mills, Wyo., to Arthur Charles Moore and Marie Mary Schriner. The family migrated to North Idaho when Art was a young boy. He served in the military, had a home construction business in Spokane, Wash., and eventually moving to Nordman, where he built and operated a cedar mill.
A consummate storyteller and entertainer, he taught many a young girl and a few older ones how to dance at the Grandview Resort on Priest Lake. He was a self-educated man who far exceeded the norm with his poetry and autobiography of his life. Always taking the moral high ground, he was a fair and just man, always instilling in the young people a strong work ethic, values and life lessons.
Art and his wife, Patricia, built a beautiful home in Priest Lake. In 48 years of marriage, when not working or building fine furniture and lamps, fishing was his biggest joy. He could then be found with rod in hand fishing the local creeks and lakes in pursuit of what lied beneath. We younger ones give thanks that Art always took the time to teach us the love of that game as well as the game of life.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ralph, Harold and Johnny; his sister, Eleanor; and two sons Danny and Jerry. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sister Ruth Moore; daughters Monica and Cindy Moore; daughter Leslie Higley and husband Clyde; son Steve Wieber; 11 grandchildren and so many great-grandchildren. Art, you are loved and will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
