Friday is the deadline for Kalispell teachers to submit applications for Great Opportunities Grants.

The grants have supplemented creative classroom curriculum since 2007.

Last year some grant-funded projects included a student-and-artist collaboration to create sculpture at the Linderman Education Center and establishing a geocaching club at Hedges Elementary School.

The Kalispell Education Foundation will award grants in mid-November, and, with assistance from Leadership Flathead, will match businesses that want to support classroom project.

“The Leadership Flathead team has invigorated our board with some great feedback and the opportunity to extend our connections with local business,” Kalispell Education Foundation Board President Anna Marie Bailey said in a press release.

“We’ve already worked with several organizations like Snappy’s, Walmart and Valley Glass to find sponsor matches, but feel we can really get the word out with such a motivated group of individuals,” she added.

Businesses or organizations wishing to support a project or donate an in-kind gift may call the foundation at 751-3432.
