BLANCHARD — A St. Maries man with a history of trying to outrun law enforcement was arrested early Sunday after leading Bonner County sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase.

Dallas Roy Eells Jr. is charged with felony eluding, in addition to misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol.

Eells, 40, made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Monday via video feed from the county jail. Judge Debra Heise set his bail at $5,500 and appointed a public defender to represent him, court records indicate.
