William Rorvik will face arraignment for felony burglary Oct. 22, six months after he allegedly committed the Charlo crime.

Emergency dispatchers were alerted to a burglary alarm sounding at the Branding Iron in Charlo, April 14 and dispatched the appropriate responders, the affidavit said.

When the responding Tribal officer and a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene they found the Branding Iron alarm sounding and evidence that forced entry into the building had taken place.

Once inside the building, officers found an open cash register, missing money and several bottles of alcohol were missing from the establishment. Among the missing items was a one-dollar bill that was previously stapled to the wall and ripped from its perch, leaving part of the bill stapled to the wall,the affidavit said. 

The officers and the victim then reviewed the establishment’s surveillance tape, where the victim was able to identify William Rovik. The tape showed two burglars breaking into the building who were wearing dark clothes.

Upon investigation of Rorvik, officers found a white SUV that held dark clothing, two backpacks and a dollar bill that sat on the vehicle’s center console and bore the exact marks of the bill previously stapled to the wall, the affidavit said.

A Sheriff’s detective then approched Rorvik, who was incarcerated on an unrelated charge, with the evidence. Rovik then admitted to having taken part in the burglary, the affidavit said. 

Rorvik’s most recent court case was filed on Sept. 30 and a summons to appear was issued.

Rorvik is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 22.
