Class A football: Choteau crushes Libby with huge first quarter

CHOTEAU — Choteau (4-3) opened the game with five touchdowns in less than 11 minutes to put the game out of reach in the first quarter, before taking its foot off the gas in a nonconference victory over Libby (0-7).

The Bulldogs’ Layton Lockwood opened the game with two quick touchdowns, scoring the first on a 3-yard run and the second on an 8-yard fumble recovery on the ensuing Libby possession.

Less than six minutes into the contest, Choteau had its third touchdown on a Steeler French jaunt from a yard out. Following the ensuing Libby drive, Choteau’s Collin Achenbach returned a punt for a touchdown. Achenbach scored a running touchdown from five yards out on the Bulldogs’ next possession to give Choteaua 36-0 lead with more than a minute still remaining in the first quarter.

French would break loose for a 61-yard touchdown run and Pete Henderson 21-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Jonathan Moore had a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth to give Choteau a 46-0 lead.

Libby’s Eric Lauer ended the shutout when he hauled in a 39-yard pass from Dylan Parrish at the end of the game.
