The Lady Loggers volleyball team went into Thompson Falls Tuesday evening to face the Bluehawks in a District 7-B showdown. The Lady Loggers claimed the first set but were unable to hold on as the Bluehawks continued their undefeated in-conference streak. The match ended with Thompson Falls winning in five, 22-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-15 and 15-10.

Mehki Sykes led the Lady Loggers with 11 of the team’s 31 kills and three of the squad’s eight aces. Emily Mossburg added four blocks. India Croucher and Bailie Rosling each contributed 10 digs and Ashley Walker had 17 assists.

Lady Loggers coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said her team didn’t perform the way they should have in the match.

“We needed to do a better job of controlling what is in our control – communication, energy and effort,” she said. “We need to leave it all out on the floor.”

The Lady Loggers travel to Butte for a tournament Saturday and are back home to face in-county rival Troy Tuesday.

The ladies will finish the regular season with an Oct. 24 double-header against Whitefish and Columbia Falls before moving on to the district tournament Oct. 31 in Thompson Falls. Libby is scheduled to host the divisional tournament, which is set for Nov. 7 through Nov. 9.
