Three people hurt in rollover at the scene of other accident

QUINCY — A man from Quincy and a woman and a child from Othello were hurt when the car they were in crashed on Oct. 4 about three miles south of Quincy on Highway 281.

The crash occurred at the scene of another two-crash that caught the driver by surprise and caused him to lose control.

The driver was Alberto Cortes-Cruz, 25. Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved, the Washington State Patrol said. He was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

Cortes-Cruz’s blue-gray 1995 Honda Civic was totaled. It was impounded by Quincy Towing.

One of the injured passengers was lris R. Corrales, 23 of Othello. She was transported by ambulance to QVMC.

The second slightly injured person was Yaxeni Cortes-Corrales, 2 months old. She was transported to QVMC as a precautionary measure.

The Honda was northbound on 281, the WSP said. It came upon a two-car collision in the roadway.

Cortes-Cruz, swerved to the right. He overcorrected, and the car traveled across the roadway to the left, rolled and came to rest off the roadway on its top.

The cause of the crash was an obstructed roadway. The State Patrol issued no citations.
