Neighborhood fears spooky characters

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a woman on North Hilltop Road who reported that neighbors were spooked by two men who dance around the neighborhood in trench coats, cowboy hats and a skeleton mask. The woman said a neighbor had recently purchased a gun for protection against the men.

A woman on Mountain Drive near Hungry Horse called to report that one of her neighbors had smashed in the window of her truck because he was drunk and wanted to fight.

Deputies served a no-contact order to a woman who keeps trespassing on a Blacklog Lane property. The woman allegedly told the property’s resident, “You just about got me killed,” ran off the property and then came back and ran at the resident again. The resident was afraid because of concern that the woman carries knives with her.

A communications tower was found to have been shot up by a highpowered rifle and possibly a shotgun. Property owners found that the tower’s concrete was damaged.

A mother on Alpine Court called police after a teenage boy told her son that he intended to bring a can of gasoline to her home and start a fire. The woman said the son saw the alleged would-be arsonist with a can of gasoline.

A door was kicked in on Three Mile Drive and several rifles were stolen.


Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office fielded a call about holiday hooligans stealing pumpkins from a front yard on West Oak Street.


A business on Central Avenue reported a theft of jewelry, and told Whitefish Police that the suspects were caught on tape.

People reported that someone in a vehicle that was painted to possibly look like a bra tried to run them off Wisconsin Avenue. Officers were dispatched to try to locate the racy automobile.

A dog was attacked by another canine in a dog park. The animal was bleeding, but the owner called off responding officers as the suspect dog and its owners left the park.

A wedding ring was lost on Baker Avenue.


Columbia Falls Police responded to Talbot Road where a child on a school playground sustained minor injuries from being hit by people who were driving around, shooting paintballs. The paintballs hit a truck window and children. The suspect vehicle was a small grey truck.

A Columbia Falls man reported that his dog had been missing for more than a month, but that he had found it in Polson.


Kalispell Police were unable to locate a man who was reported as walking down a street near a school. The man allegedly was carrying a white teddy bear and was pushed away by someone after he tried to get into a car.

A man walking on First Avenue East called in to report that he heard someone who was angry, throwing garbage cans around. The man could not see the suspect because it was dark.

Someone broke into a business by breaking a window on Commons Way.

A man reported that his Subaru Outback had been stolen from Ninth Avenue West.

A business on U.S. 93 reported that a customer had used counterfeit money.
