Man's request for a new trial denied

SANDPOINT — A man convicted of perpetrating a brazen home-invasion burglary is being denied a new trial, 1st District Court records show.

Randy Carl Eiland, who is acting as his own defense counsel, moved for a new trial because his repeated requests for a postponement in his trial were denied. Eiland sought another continuance the day his trial started last month because the defense’s forensic analysis of evidence had not been completed.
