Shirley Joan Jones, 79

Shirley Joan Jones “fell asleep in death” in her home on Larch Lane in Columbia Falls on Oct. 14, 2015, of natural causes at the age of 79. Surrounded by her loving friends and family, she passed quickly and peacefully.
Shirley was born on Jan. 1, 1936, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Thomas Hiriam and Vesta LaRue (Betty) Donahue. She was the youngest of four children. She was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1942 at 6 years of age. She held firm to her hope of resurrection to a paradise earth under God’s Kingdom which was reflected in her life in all she did. The resurrection hope was firm in her mind right up until death.
Shirley is survived by her husband Ernest Jones, sister Rosie Jones, and brother Bud Donahue. She is also survived by three sons, Craig Jones, Dennis Morse and Blaine Jones, as well as two daughters, Deborah Smith and Sandra Shepherd. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and close friends. Due to her very generous nature, she opened her home to many in need.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 1900 Highway 93 W., Whitefish, followed by a reception for friends and family.
