After the most recent trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was released on Monday, advance ticket sales skyrocketed into a galaxy far, far away and obliterated the record for first-day movie tickets purchased online.

But the force is still with local “Star Wars” fans as area theaters still have tickets available for the Dec. 18 opening of the new movie.

Across the country, Fandango, the largest online-ticket hub, sold out more than 1,000 shows nationwide in the first 12 hours after the trailer was released.

Kalispell’s Signature Stadium 14 movie theater has only sold out one showing on opening day. One 7 p.m. slot is sold out, while tickets are still available for four other movie times as well as a second 7 p.m. screening.

There also are eight showings of the 3-D version of “Star Wars” for which tickets are available at the Kalispell theater.

Tickets for the Dec. 18 opening-day screening at Stadium 14 are available at www.fandango.com/starwars:theforceawakens_169229/movietimes.
