LAW ROUNDUP: Passed-out man puts pedal to the metal

Someone on Appleway Drive told Kalispell Police Department that a man in a large truck was possibly passed out with his foot on the accelerator causing the engine to rev for about 15 minutes before getting out and stumbling around.

It may have been “Reefer Madness” an apartment building manager on First Avenue West witnessed when they saw a tenant fall a few times and crawl on the floor in the hallway. The manager said she was barely responsive and had marks all over her face that looked like carpet burns. Officers responded and it was learned that the woman had a valid medical marijuana card.

A woman on Sixth Avenue West was suspicious of a man and a woman carrying a bucket came to her door claiming to be from the fire department and asked to check out weather stripping and a fire alarm inside her home. It was later discovered that a Red Cross campaign was going on and that a Kalispell Fire Ambulance and fire truck were parked on the street.

A report of a possible drug transaction was made from Sixth Avenue East.

A disgruntled woman on Treeline Road told police her sister-in-law, who “is addicted to drugs,” reportedly keyed her truck.

A man on Depot Park wanted to speak to an officer about a transient woman, who pushes a cart around town, had accused him of being a child molester.

A woman described as “mentally handicapped” was screaming threats that she “will kill people” on Kenway Drive.

A “heavyset guy” in his 30s or early 40s reportedly went into a clothing store on North Main Street and asked a 17-year-old clerk “inappropriate questions.” The clerk said he “asked her to model for him and told her she could make money on the side,” and left his phone number when she declined.

Someone at a First Avenue East organization called police when a male client, who had apparently “clawed his own arms up with his fingernails,” came into the office acting manically and made comments about “joining the Hell’s Angels so he could kill people” and that “he had a BB gun, but wanted to get a real one.”

Road rage left a woman very shaken on East Center Street and First Avenue West after she said a female driver in a dark blue car had yelled and followed her until she drove to the police station. The jolted woman said she “had stopped to let a pedestrian cross the road at a green light and thinks it made the other woman mad.”

Freeloaders were reported attempting to camp out in a camper behind a hotel on U.S. 2 West. The subjects were told to move on.

A rambunctious pair of dogs were allegedly killing chickens on Valley View Drive. One dog was captured and transported to a shelter and a citation listing the dog “at large/no license,” was left for the dog owner. The other canine culprit was in its backyard and officers found a hole where the duo had dug for their escape.

Two tires were slashed on a woman’s vehicle at Buttercup Loop.

A woman on U.S. 93 South said her credit cards were stolen and that a man was emptying her account.

A trailer hitch was reported stolen on Old Reserve Drive.

A small white car was spotted allegedly driving 40 mph and running a stop sign over the last three nights.

Extra patrol was requested on Second Avenue West because of vehicles speeding down the streets.

Medical care was requested for a man who possibly had alcohol poisoning and was sitting at the edge of the road by a woman on Ninth Street East.

Concerns of drug activity on Second Street West led someone to call police after watching an SUV repeatedly drive around the block and park for 10 minutes at a time.

A concerned resident on North Meridian Road was told by her neighbor to call police if she “ever stomped on the floor to please call the cops because they were in trouble.” The resident said they heard crying and yelling. It turned out to be a verbal argument.

A man riding a bicycle on East Lakeshore Drive reported to Whitefish Police Department that a Chevy Suburban crossed two lanes of traffic and tried to hit him head on. The man had to swerve to keep from getting hit.

The man said someone at the bicycle shop said the same thing had happened to a different cyclist a day earlier.

Officers searched for a suspected drunk driver who went through a drive through on U.S. 93 and appeared extremely intoxicated according to restaurant staff.

A person reported that someone on East Second Street was driving three miles per hour and periodically stopping in the roadway. The officer counseled the driver who was not high, as the reporting party originally thought.

A few nuisance kids reportedly chased a 13-year-old boy who sought sanctuary in a church. The teen called Columbia Falls Police Department from Talbot Road and said the harassment has been ongoing for four days.

A woman on First Avenue East was suspicious of a white vehicle in front of her house. She told officers a woman inside “ducked down and tried to hide.” Officers said it appeared to be a broken-down mail delivery vehicle.
