Police respond to paintballers

A resident on Eighth Avenue East North called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a disturbance that sounded like male voices and “someone hammering on something.” The caller suspected a possible break-in. Responding officers found a group of friends had been paintballing in the area. No one was cited.
A concerned resident on Sixth Street West called police to check on an elderly neighbor yelling at someone who wasn’t there in her apartment. The caller also stated the neighbor had been yelling throughout the previous night and threw a bag of trash out the window. Responding officers found other neighbors had been concerned about the woman’s health as well.
A caller on Fourth Avenue West reported a belligerent neighbor, who allegedly “freaked out” about the noise people were making walking up and down the stairs of the apartment building. The caller said the neighbor was so upset she broke some furniture on the caller’s balcony.
The Whitefish Police Department responded to reports of a deer that had become tangled in a fence on Dakota Avenue and was struggling. When officers arrived at the scene, the deer had already managed to get away.
A driver called to report an apparently intoxicated man standing at a downtown intersection holding onto the stop sign. The caller was worried the man might fall into the street.
Fire departments around the valley responded to various reports of out-of-control burn piles and grass fires. The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department responded to a call on Bear Ridge Trail; West Valley Fire Department responded to a call on Farm to Market Road; Creston Fire Department responded to a call on North Ramsfield Road; Marion Fire Department responded to a call on Hubbart Dam Road; and Evergreen Fire Department responded to a call on Conestoga Court.
