SANDPOINT — Counsel for a Bonner County man accused of wounding another man in a shooting at Bloom Lake is moving to suppress evidence in the case and prevent the state from introducing character evidence.

A hearing on the defense motions in Michael Jesse Chisholm’s case is set for Nov. 24 in 1st District Court. Chisholm’s attorney, Chief Deputy Public Defender Dan Taylor, filed the motions on Oct. 19.

The defense contends remarks Chisholm made and evidence gained at the scene of his arrest should be kept from jurors. Taylor argues deputies lacked probable cause to stop and detain Chisholm and the evidence was gained in violation of his constitutional rights, court records indicate.
