A Kalispell man has been charged with felony negligent vehicular assault after he allegedly drove drunk, crashed his car and injured his girlfriend on Sunday.

Keith Andrew Weisz, 26, was arrested after Kalispell Police were called to Kalispell Regional Medical Center to take a report of a possible assault victim.

According to court documents, when officers arrived, they found Weisz’s girlfriend, who was seriously injured.

The woman said the pair had been drinking at a casino on U.S. 2 earlier that day.

They left and Weisz allegedly was driving erratically. The woman told investigators that she did not remember what happened, but that the car had crashed at some point and that she was hurt.

Weisz was found in the parking lot of the hospital, visibly intoxicated, according to officers. The man allegedly admitted to being too drunk to drive and said that he had driven the vehicle and crashed it. An officer found evidence of a recent crash on U.S. 2.

Officers noticed damage to Weisz’s vehicle and put him through field sobriety tests. Weisz allegedly performed poorly and refused to provide a breath sample.

Officers obtained a search warrant for a court-ordered blood sample, which was sent to the Montana State Crime Lab.
