TONIGHT
State 4A playoffs
First round
Middleton (4-5) at Lakeland (1-8), 7 p.m.: The Vikings finished third in the 4A Southern Idaho Conference, behind Bishop Kelly and Kuna. Middleton lost to 3A schools Fruitland and Emmett, and beat Skyview 22-21. Post Falls beat Skyview 34-27.
Middleton won at Lakeland four years ago in the quarterfinals.
Lakeland made it into the playoffs by beating Moscow last week for the second berth from the 4A Inland Empire League.
The winner of tonight’s game travels to Bishop Kelly (7-2) next week.
1A Division II
Regular season
Kootenai (0-7) at Tekoa/Rosalia, 7 p.m.: Following a bye, the Warriors close out their season with a nonleague tilt in Rosalia, Wash. Tekoa/Rosalia, an independent lost to Clark Fork 24-6 and lost to Wallace 58-14.
Lakeside (1-7, 1-4 White Star League) at Lewis County (2-6, 1-4), 7 p.m.: Lewis County beat Lakeside 60-20 in the nonleague season opener for both teams Aug. 28 in Plummer.
SATURDAY
State 2A playoffs
First round
New Plymouth (4-4) at St. Maries (7-1), 1 p.m.: After 14 straight postseason-less seasons, St. Maries is in the postseason for the fourth straight year, and opens against New Plymouth for the third time in four years. New Plymouth won in 2012, and St. Maries won in 2014.
Saturday’s winner travels to play either Aberdeen (8-0) or Firth (4-4) next week.
State 3A playoffs
First round
Parma (4-4) at Timberlake (6-2), 7 p.m.: Parma finished fourth in the Snake River Valley Conference, behind Emmett, Homedale and Fruitland.
Saturday night’s winner plays Kimberly (5-3) or Homedale (7-1) next week.

The former Windy Eagle, a star athlete at Clark Fork High, had been awaiting a new heart since 2022, when she was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease which attacks the electrical system of her heart.
