Monday is the last chance for small businesses to sign up for the Flathead Valley Small Business Saturday event on Nov. 28.
The event champions small businesses the day after Black Friday. Businesses participating in the event often provide deals and discounts on products.
So far, 70 businesses have signed up with the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce. Courtenay Sprunger of Big Sky Public Relations said 70 businesses took part in the event in 2014, Kalispell’s second year hosting the holiday. That number more than doubled from its first year, when 26 businesses signed up.
American Express started the holiday shopping event in 2010 as an effort to revitalize main-street mom-and-pop shops around the country during heavy shopping periods such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This year, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce is working with the Bigfork, Whitefish and Lakeside-Somers chambers to open the event to a valleywide selection of businesses and shoppers.
Registration for Small Business Saturday is free and merchandise is supplied by American Express. To sign up, call Sprunger at 27-2949 or visit www.kalispellchamber.com’s event page.
