SANDPOINT — A Bonner County woman accused of kidnapping one child and battering another who tried to intervene pleaded guilty to reduced charges on Wednesday.

Ruthie Ann Peterson was charged with second-degree kidnapping and two counts of battery in connection with the Aug. 4 incident at the Riley Creek Recreation Area on the Pend Oreille River.

Peterson, 22, is accused of taking a 6-year-old girl against her will and attacking another child who tried to stop her. Prior to the alleged abduction, Peterson allegedly attacked an adult woman at random and demanded to know where her sister was.
