Reconstruction of the second phase of U.S. 93 west of Whitefish wrapped up Friday, with Schellinger Construction completing the project on time.
The project from Karrow Avenue to Mountainside Drive included widening and paving the highway, installation of sidewalks and bike paths and the completion of new water, sewer and storm-drain utilities.
“The Karrow to Moutainside project is a great addition to Whitefish,” Whitefish City Manager Chuck Stearns said in a prepared statement. “We would like to thank the affected citizens and businesses for their patience and support throughout the construction process. As our city continues to expand, the new infrastructure will provide the support we need to grow.”
Schellinger’s crews will be cleaning up the work site throughout September. They’ll also complete the landscaping.
The highway will be chip-sealed next spring, a project that will take three to five days, according to Schellinger Construction.
“We are pleased to finish on time, with excellence. We could not have done that without the support of the community and our many outstanding subcontractors,” Marc Blanden, Schellinger Construction’s project manager, said in a press release.
