Riverstone Anthony's coming
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 3 months AGO
Hmm. A spy pointed out a construction trailer parked beside Bardenay Restaurant on the pond in Riverstone.
"It's for Anthony's," he said.
Phoning the Spokane company phone number on the trailer, the project manager said construction will start soon for a 6,300-square-foot restaurant to open in early May. It will have inside and outside seating.
A fresh seafood restaurant that started in 1969 in Seattle, Anthony's has 28 locations in the Northwest with two in Spokane. Check www.anthonys.com.
More Riverstone food
While we're on food in Riverstone, the Grill from Ipanema plans to relocate from 601 Front Ave. in downtown Coeur d'Alene to 2416 N. Old Mill Loop in the spring.
The Brazilian steakhouse will occupy 6,100 square feet at the corner of the two streets connecting Regal Cinemas and Starbucks. It will bring the occupancy of The Village at Riverstone East to 96 percent, according to Bob Spooner of Goodale & Barbieri Co.
A unique upscale dining experience, servers at the Grille from Ipanema roam among tables offering skewers of different flavors of beef, chicken and pork. Customers already have filled their plates from the accompanying buffet. Check www.grillfromipanema.com.
Growler Guys coming
Whoa. Talk about a busy parking lot. The new Chipotle Mexican Grill building is under construction between Tomato Street and Walgreen's. And in October add a Growler Guys location in the now empty space just east of Tuesday Morning.
This is all in the northeast corner of Appleway Way at Highway 95, already one of the busiest intersections in North Idaho.
This Growler Guys place will offer more than the two new locations in Spokane. In addition to buying and filling growlers (large containers) of beer, customers can hang around with a beer and limited food options on site.
Headquartered in Bend, Ore., with nine locations so far, Growler Guys offers 48 beer taps, ciders, kombucha, root beer and possibly sangria and cold-pressed coffees. Check www.thegrowlerguys.com.
Major Cd'A publicity
A Puget Sound friend sent a two-page feature from The Seattle Times with the huge headline "Stay and play in Idaho's Coeur d'Alene."
In the July 26 "NW Traveler" section, the piece includes two detailed stories, the major one by Josh Noel of "The Chicago Tribune" with his three full-color photos and two from "Visit Idaho."
One is from an airplane (maybe our seaplane) showing most of the lake, downtown and Tubbs Hill. Others show kids jumping from Tubbs Hill rocks and its hiking trail, a view of The Coeur d'Alene Resort from the boardwalk and The Resort golf course's floating green.
The second story is "Tips on visiting Coeur d'Alene" by the Times' Kristin Jackson. It includes sub-heads of "Getting there," "Where to Stay," "Festivals coming up," Cruise the lake," "Tubbs Hill walking," "Bike trails," "What's in a name," "Silverwood Theme Park," "Small-town friendliness," "More information" and a North Idaho map.
Noel ended his story with, "The town ... disappeared after 10 minutes on Tubbs Hill. Just me, the broad lake and peacefulness ... And at the end of the loop a five-minute walk to beer and wood-fired pizza. Such is life in Coeur d'Alene."
Now for the Tidbits
- Oh, the Seattle Times Cd'A pages outlined above had ads for San Francisco and Maui - none for Cd'A.
- Watch for news on Fine Brewed Coffee and Kandy's Boutique downtown, Stir Drink & Enjoy in Hayden Creek Plaza, Premier Discount Center in Post Falls, Bulldog Lounge in Silver Lake Mall, Rohinni in Riverstone, Pinot's Palette on Fourth Street and Hayden Country Store.
- It's weird that "base" and "bass" - both hinting on lowest or key place or musical note, voice and instrument are pronounced the same with the long "a," but "bass" for the type of fish has the soft "a."
- When a clock is hungry, it goes back four seconds.
