SANDPOINT — The Panida Theater literally dropped their ceiling and replaced it with a new one for safety and historical value.

The construction started in early July and closed the theater through construction.

"The entire ceiling came down," Patricia Walker White, executive director, said. "It will be finished by the end of next week."

Walker White said the old ceiling was unsafe, was discolored, had cracks and was simply old.

The new ceiling was created using the same color palette as the original building. In addition, the gold trim around the ceiling was also redone and a new lighting chaise was installed, Walker White said.

"It makes the stage more illuminated," Walker White said.
