Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 4 months AGO
David Charles Hulick, 56, passed Sept. 1, 2015, after a long, courageous battle with heart disease.
On March 23, 1959, Maxine and Bob Hulick welcomed their second child, David, who was born in Lancaster, Calif., while Bob was working at Edwards Air Force Base. The family moved home to their Pacific Northwest roots (Maxine from Coeur d'Alene and Bob from Spokane) in 1965 to Spirit Lake, Idaho, and eventually to Coeur d'Alene in 1966.
David grew up enjoying all the best that Idaho offers including fishing on Lake Coeur d'Alene in his grandparents' wooden boat and many family camping trips to Priest Lake and Farragut State Park. He attended Central School, the old junior high and mid-high schools, and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1977.
After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for eight years. During that time he traveled throughout the world. While stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, he met his wife, Carol, and they settled down in Tucson, Ariz., where they were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Rhiannon. David spent his work career employed as an electronics technician and pursued his college education at the University of Arizona. The family moved back to Coeur d'Alene in 2011.
There are so many wonderful memories of David that will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends including, his love of woodworking, old radios and history. His ardent love of music (he had almost 900 songs in his music library). And mostly, his love of family.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Michelle; his father, Robert Hulick and father-in-law Jack Clarkson. He is survived by his mother, Maxine; mother-in-law Bette; daughter Rhiannon; three sisters: Terry Fogle, Sharon Hulick and Cathy Hulick (Dean Teasdale); sister-in-law Karen (Chuck) Beck; brother-in-law Chris Clarkson; three nieces: Kate (Chris) Klarmann, April (Justin) Olsen and Chelsea Beck; nephew Joey Beck; and many other beloved family members and friends.
"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on. You and the song are gone, but the melody lingers on." (Irving Berlin) Thanks for all the great melodies, David. You will be greatly missed.
