PONDERAY — Test results showed Lake Pend Oreille School District students scored above average compared to students throughout the state, Superintendent Shawn Woodward told school board members Tuesday, during the regular meeting. Enrollment numbers were also discussed.

Woodward told board members that the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium testing results were taken from two years ago as the district had last year off from taking the state test. The SBAC in an online assessment aligned to common core standards.

“Whether we support this assessment or not, this is something we will annually do, share the results as far as how our students are doing,” Woodward said.

Overall, for English and Language Arts, the students in grades third through tenth were about 11.9 percent above the state average. For mathematics, the district showed about 8.3 percent higher than the average.
