Candidates announced for city races

SANDPOINT — City government candidates are off and running for the Nov. 3 election. Ponderay has three mayoral candidates and Sandpoint has two.  

In Sandpoint, Mose Dunkel and Shelby Rognstad are running for mayor. Also up for election are three council seats, with incumbents Bill Aitken, Deb Fragoso and Thomas Eddy vying for the spots. Also on the ballot for Sandpoint is a five-year local option tax to fund repairs at Memorial Field.  

For Ponderay, Karen Lee Engel, Steve Geiger and Phil McNearney are each hoping to be the next city's mayor. Two council seats are up for election, with Gary Kunzeman and Rick Larkin in the running.
