Volleyball roundup: Frenchtown drops Whitefish, Bigfork earns win

FRENCHTOWN — Whitefish evened its Northwestern A volleyball mark Thursday evening by defeating Frenchtown 25-19, 25-19, 26-24.

Allie Schulz had seven kills and 18 assists, both team highs.

Cailyn Ross totaled seven blocks and three aces, also team highs for Whitefish (2-3 overall, 1-1 league).

“I’m really happy with the girls,” Whitefish coach Jackie Fuller said.

“In the third game we were down by 13 points and came back and won. The girls just never game up.”

Fuller said the defensive play of Ellie Dewan, Ross and Serena Hemmingson was exciting to watch.

“They did a really nice job for us in the back row.”

Bigfork 3, St. Ignatius 0

BIGFORK — Kalia Wicklund had team-best marks in digs with nine and assists with 21 to help Bigfork roll by St. Ignatius 25-10, 25-8, 25-19 in Class B play.

Lana Berg had eight of the 26 Bigfork kills and seven of the team’s 22 aces. Both were team highs.

Kills – Bigfork 26 (Lana Berg 8), St. Ignatius 14 (Sidney Castor 7). Blocks – Bigfork 3 (Three with 1), St. Ignatius 1 (Castor). Digs – Bigfork 34 (Kalia Wicklund 9), St. Ignatius 36 (Jordyn Eichert 10, Daisie Vandenbos 10). Assists – Bigfork 25 (Wicklund 21), St. Ignatius 11 (Eichert 9). Aces – Bigfork 22 (Berg 7), St. Ignatius 5 (Eichert 2).
