Celebrating 50 years together

Sept. 18, 2015, marks the 50-year anniversary of local couple Jim and Jackie (Ruckman) Swanson.

Jim is a Washington native, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1961 and earning a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Washington in 1966. He retired after a 40-year career with Boeing and Lockheed.

 Jackie is a Libby native and member of Libby High’s class of 1963. Jackie is a founding member and past president of Women’s Aglow chapters in California and Washington and has been a bible study teacher and speaker for women’s groups.

The couple live at Upper Thompson Lake and held a celebration in July with their immediate family.

Following initial testing, a white-tailed deer in Lincoln County is suspected to be positive for chronic wasting disease, according to a press release from Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
