Cross country: Eureka sweeps Libby dual meet

FORTINE — Taylor Harpe edged Libby’s Lauren Thorstenson at the finish line to win the Libby-Eureka cross country dual and lead the Lions in a sweep on Tuesday at Meadow Creek Golf Course.

Harpe won the girls race in 20 minutes, 25.72 seconds, less than half a second in front of Thorstenson. The team race wasn’t as close as Eureka placed four runners in the top five and six in the top 10 to win the dual 20-37. Tyann Totten finished in third place win 20:35.15.

Libby’s Colin Maloney ran away with the boys event in 16:26.28, but it wasn’t enough to lift Libby, with Eureka placing six of the top eight to win the dual 23-37.

Brian Sturdevant was the top finisher for the Lions, finishing scond in 16:29.63, ahead of teammate Jamie Good in third.
