COEUR d'ALENE — Starplex Corp., of Portland, Ore., filed a lawsuit against Diamond Cup over money not paid for security services provided during the 2013 Labor Day weekend hydroplane races.
The lawsuit, filed this month in 1st District Court in Kootenai County, alleged that Diamond Cup organizers owe an outstanding balance of $27,890.
Starplex provides a variety of crowd management, security and event services in the Northwest.
Diamond Cup signed an agreement with Starplex for services during the 2013 hydroplane races on Lake Coeur d'Alene.
"Starplex fully performed its obligations under the agreement and provided sufficiently trained personnel to perform all of the agreed-to event security services," the lawsuit said.
Starplex submitted invoices to Diamond Cup, but race officials stopped making payments, the court documents said.
"Diamond Cup materially breached the agreement by refusing to pay for the services it had contracted to receive from Starplex," the suit said.
Starplex asked for a judgment in its favor for the money it is owed.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Starplex by attorney Alexander P. McLaughlin of Boise law firm Givens Pursley LLP.
