Polson golf team prepares for divisional meet

Carson McDaniel’s three tournament win streak came to an end last week against some tough competition in Kalispell, including seven AA teams. McDaniel did have a decent tournament, shooting a 77 on Thursday and then an 83 on Friday to finish in eighth place. He was 16 shots off the winner, Ryan Keenan of Flathead. Noah McDonald shot a 171 over two days, which was a personal best for him. Matt Hobbs shot a 175, Curtis Capdeville shot a 186, and Colin Kenney shot a 196. The boys’ team finished seventh out of 14 teams. For the girls, Kiyara McCue had the best score for Polson with a 207 over two days.

On Saturday, Polson traveled to Hamilton. The boys took second place as a team, with four Pirates in the top 10. Carson McDaniel took third with a 77, Matt Hobbs took seventh with an 86, and Curtis Capdeville and Colin Kenney tied for eighth with an 87. That score was a personal best for Colin Kenney. The girls were led by Emily Davis and Kiyara McCue, who both shot a 127. Amanda Farley was a few strokes back with a 133.

The Polson varsity team has finished up their regular season, and will head to divisionals this weekend at the Fairmont golf course. State will take place in Sidney on the first weekend of October.

Colorado swimmers take on Flathead Lake

Mark Johnston may not have had the best of luck during his attempt to swim the length of Flathead Lake three weeks ago, but last Friday, he guided two of his friends though 15 hours of a grueling swim on the lake.

First Paddle for Clean Water benefits Flathead Lakers

The first-annual Paddle for Clean Water took place on a cool Sunday morning at Flathead Lake’s King’s Point. Over 100 people participated in the event, which aimed to raise money for the Flathead Lakers, a conservation organization in Polson. Even with the chilly start, nobody backed out. In fact, they had a few extras. One of the organizers, Dana Johnston, said she was happy with the turnout.
