Fishing season closing

A bunch of Columbia Basin waters are open all year long. However, the general fishing season ends next Wednesday, Sept. 30, for several Columbia Basin lakes. Be sure and check the regulations pamphlet before wetting a line.

Old hunter pheasant hunt

The old hunter pheasant hunt was this week for hunters 65 years old and older. Hey, that’s me. The season was open in eastern Washington from Sept 21 through 25. I’m thinking there may be some hunters out there who will get this news early enough to make an afternoon hunt.

Quail, chukar and Hun seasons

The quail, chukar and Hungarian partridge hunting season will open on Saturday, Oct. 3, one week from tomorrow. The limit is 10 mixed bag per day for quail and six chukar and six Huns a day.

Deer and elk seasons

Various deer and elk seasons are opening and closing during the next few days/weeks, mainly for archery and muzzleloader hunters.

Just in case you haven’t found out yet, the results of the 2016 hunt permit draw are available online. Well maybe. The fish and wildlife website has been down for a while and not all of the pages are available.

Fish and Wildlife has reported the results of last Saturday’s opening day of the fishing. The results were disappointing to some, but others were well satisfied.
