A farewell to Glorie
POST FALLS — Glorie Ward has stepped down from her trustee position for the Post Falls School District.
Ward, who was elected to serve Zone 1 in 2013, announced her resignation during this month's meeting of the board of trustees. On Friday, the health care professional told The Press that a move to Coeur d'Alene was the sole reason for her resignation.
"This was not an easy decision and it wasn't made lightly," Ward said. "The one thing I regret about having to move is that I am no longer able to serve."
Ward described herself and husband Jeff as empty-nesters who recently decided to find a new home. She said they initially focused the search on Zone 1, but were unable to find a home that fit their needs in the area.
"I really did enjoy my time on the board and was honored to be able to serve," Ward said.
Ward's term on the board was set to expire in 2017.
District Superintendent Jerry Keane told The Press Friday that once the board declares Ward's position vacant in early October, it has 90 days to fill the trustee seat. The declaration begins a process of receiving applications and interviewing candidates.
When all the candidates have been interviewed, Keane said the four remaining board members will select Ward's replacement.
