American fusion at Rivelle's River Grill

American fusion food with shareable plates for healthy eaters with healthy appetites is stressed at Rivelle’s River Grill. The new restaurant opened this past week at 2360 Old Mill Loop.

With casual and bar seating for about 80 customers, this Riverstone suite next to Starbucks was originally Melone’s Restaurant. Bold flavors focus on great ingredients through executive chef Tariq Rahman, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu and has helped open many restaurants, including three in Hawaii.

Leading to a full remodel in January, owners Monica and Robert Tarr, John Beutler and Jim Schindler are asking customers for feedback and input on preferred wines and beers, spice levels, decor and more.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Phone 930-0381.

Kandy’s Boutique opens Saturday in Henson Building

Featuring more than 40 brands of fashionable women’s apparel, Kandy’s Boutique opens Saturday in the historic Henson Building at 421 E. Sherman Ave.

Owner Kandy Breckenridge, who had the store in Sandpoint since 1996, offers accessories, jewelry, shoes, formals, candles and lotions and also rents men’s tuxedos.

A soft opening will proceed Saturday’s grand opening. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays and will extend in the summer. Helping are Kandy’s daughters Alexandria Symons and Savannah Breckenridge. Phone 665-8100.

Floating Green Restaurant adds lit patio

Open to the public and adding a lit patio that seats 100 customers, the Floating Green Restaurant has two new chefs: Bob McDaniel and Steffanie Harris.

Creating new menus and taking reservations for holiday parties and private group functions, the restaurant and nearby pro shop are open to the public, members and guests year ‘round. The menu includes breakfast, lunch, appetizers and drinks.

Starting Oct. 11, hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Hours starting Oct. 19 will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Phone 667-4653.

Numerica to Post Falls

Construction begins soon on the new Numerica Credit Union in the former space of Noodles Express in Highlands Crossing Shopping Center at Highway 41 and Mullan Road in Post Falls.

With seven employees, the new Numerica should open in January and joins Numericas at 465 W. Bosanko (by Fred Meyer) in Coeur d’Alene and 8370 N. Cornerstone Drive in Hayden.

The company opened 75 years ago as Spokane Railway Credit Union. Numerica joined CdA Teachers Credit Union in 2004 and has 18 outlets in the Inland Northwest.

- Watch for news on Panera Bread in Hayden, Stir Drink & Enjoy in Hayden Plaza, Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine joining North Idaho Physical Therapy at 1917 N. Lakewood Drive, Perfect Fit Lifestyle Fitness at 250 W. Kathleen Ave., Sandbaggerz Golf at  296 W. Sunset and Freedom Burritos to 445 Cherry Lane (next to Texas Roadhouse).

- The grand opening of Bulldog Pipe & Cigar is 1 p.m. Friday in Silver Lake Mall. There will be smokes and drinks and live music starting at 5 p.m. The shop is for ages 18 and over; the lounge for age 21 and older. Check www.bulldogpipeandcigar.com.

- Aebleskivers shop of Silver Lake Mall won the “Best Food” prize at the Spokane County Fair last week with its Philly Express sandwich.

- The extra 0s in times and money aren’t needed and can be confusing. Use $8 instead of $8.00 and 8 p.m. instead of 8:00 p.m.

- The dump had to refuse refuse.
