RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Ephrata golf standout Kenedee Peters wrapped up competition at the ANA Junior Inspiration in Rancho Mirage, California recently.

In a field of 40 elite golfers from across the United States, Peters was +7 over par and shot a 79 at Mission Hills Country Club. Andrea Lee, of Mira Cost High School in Hermosa Beach, Calif. won the event with a score of 67. With the win, Lee will have a chance to tee off at the ANA Inspiration, the LPGA’s first major championship of the season.

“To be able to play in this tournament at such a young age is awesome,” Peters said in a statement. “Even though I didn’t play like how I wanted to, I had lots of fun on the golf course playing alongside my legend, Nanci Bown. I’m leaving Mission Hills inspired to work hard on my game and I hope to be invited next year to the ANA Junior Inspiration.”

Peters had the opportunity to work with golfer Nanci Bowen during practice rounds and throughout the 18-hole shootout. Bowen joined the LPGA Tour in 1991 and won a major championship at the 1995 Nabisco Dinah Shore.

“Kennedee has all the star qualities to be a top golfer,” she said in a statement. “It was beautiful to see her in action and her attitude was great today. She has a willingness to learn and this entire experience will make such a difference to her golfing future. No other golf tournament in the world, men’s or women’s, offers junior players from across North America such an opportunity.”

Ephrata girls golf continues its season with a league match April 12 at the Mt. Adams Country Club.
