The Going-to-the-Sun Road remains closed to motor vehicles beyond Lake McDonald Lodge, but hikers and bikers this weekend can get into the high country if they want to, though the avalanche danger is currently rated as considerable, so people should use plenty of caution.

Park plows are currently at the Grizzly area of the road, about 25 miles up the west side and just beyond Crystal Point and the Loop.

They’ve encountered about 10 feet of snow. Bikers should be aware there’s patches of ice on the road in spots between Avalanche and the end of plowing.

The Park has opened the Camas Road to vehicles.

On the east side, plows have completed plowing the Two Medicine Road, though it remains closed to vehicles to let ice melt out. Hikers and bikers can go to Running Eagle Falls. The Many Glacier Road is also plowed, but closed at the Park boundary. Hikers and bikers can use the road, however on the weekend. During the week it's closed because crews are working on potholes and slumps in the road.

The Sun Road on the east side is open to Rising Sun to vehicles and hikers and bikers beyond that, though caution is urged beyond Jackson Glacier Overlook due to avalanche danger. The Cut Bank Road is snow-free to the park boundary, but there is some snow on the road beyond that in patches. Hikers can go beyond the gate. The road isn't open to vehicles.
