One dead, one hospitalized in head-on crash

WORLEY — A 61-year-old from Rockford, Wash., died in a head-on collision on Thursday afternoon.

According to Idaho State Police, Ivy O. Johnson, 27, Spokane Valley, was eastbound on Highway 58 near Drechsel Road in Worley at 1:35 p.m. when her 2000 Honda Civic crossed the center line into the westbound lane and struck a 1992 Chevrolet pickup driven by Marcus V. Jenson head-on. Jenson died at the scene.

Johnson was transported to Kootenai Health, where she was in critical but stable condition on Friday.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

COEUR d’ALENE — It’s time to get the garden going.

Shared Harvest Community Garden will hold its annual spring clean-up and garden plot registration Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

The garden, located at the corner of Foster and 10th streets in Coeur d’Alene, is kicking off its eighth season of growing.

Shared Harvest is a community garden that provides plots on a seasonal basis. Plots are $25 each for the season. Private plot-holders share 50 percent of the produce from their garden which is combined with produce from the larger Roots Garden and donated to local food assistance programs.

Anyone can register a plot and all are welcome to volunteer their time to get the garden ready. Bring gloves, shovels and rakes.
