A man is facing felony criminal child endangerment charges after allegedly driving drunk with a young child in the vehicle.

Brian Lee Smith, 44, was charged in Flathead District Court after someone called from Emerald City Casino in Whitefish last week to report that Smith allegedly had driven away from the casino while drunk.

An officer stopped a vehicle matching the description given by the driver and found Smith and a 7-year-old child were in the vehicle.

Smith allegedly admitted consuming alcohol and agreed to perform field sobriety tests.

Smith allegedly showed signs of intoxication, but refused to provide a breath sample.

Two witnesses provided statements saying they believed Smith was drunk when he left the casino.

An arraignment was set for April 21.
