ROYAL CITY — It was a long and successful week of soccer for Royal High last week as it swept three non-league matches.
The Knights defeated Granger, 1-0, Mabton, and Highland.
The Granger match, played at Royal, the Knights pulled out the victory near the very end. They scored on a free kick by Michael Rojas.
“It was not the best we have played and, in the end, a little bit of magic was required,” Coach Jens Jensen said.”
Granger was stubborn defensively. Royal took 14 shots on goal, and Granger tender Cristian Salud save 13 of them. Granger did not threaten often, taking five shots, four of which were defended by Royal goalie Carlos Quintero.
There were only 31 seconds left in the contest when Rojas scored unassisted.
Valente Cortez led the Royal attack with five shots. Rojas and Jose Ponce took three each.
