A 34-year-old Bigfork man on probation for threatening a state trooper in 2012 had a suspended sentence with the Montana Department of Corrections revoked on Thursday.

Jason Scott Hill admitted using methamphetamine and marijuana in winter 2015, though he denied claims that he did not show up to probation as often as required. He also denied any involvement in charges that have been filed recently in Lake County.

Hill said that he was fit to proceed in the revocation hearing despite having a concussion.

Hill said he had attempted suicide in jail two days earlier by trying to hang himself and by banging his head against a wall 20 times.

His head was stapled shut, he said. He claimed that he was fit to proceed despite the fact that he sometimes couldn’t remember he was on probation or what he eats for dinner.

“I’ve had nine concussions,” Hill said.

Hill said he tried to commit suicide after he got paperwork indicating that he might be designated a persistent felony offender, which opens him up to enhanced sentencing under Montana law.

Sentencing was set for May 26.

Hill has a history of violent behavior.

He was convicted of threats in official police matters in 2012 after a Montana Highway Patrol trooper responded to Montana 83 to a report of a drunk driver. The trooper found Jason Hill in his pickup truck parked off the road. As the trooper approached the vehicle he could smell alcohol.

When the trooper spoke to Hill, he tried to fight the officer and resisted arrest.

He threatened to kill the trooper and his family and made other threats telling the trooper, “I’m going to say this quietly. I’m going to rape your kids then kill you, I promise.”

A Taser and hobble restraints were used to take Hill into custody. Hill then beat his head against a window and had to be taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for treatment of a resulting cut. At the hospital, a deputy had to hold Hill’s head still, and Hill spit on him and attempted to blow his nose on another deputy.

Court documents say Hill verbally abused everyone around him for several hours.

Hill’s prior history also includes being convicted of disorderly conduct several times. He was convicted of burglary in Alaska in 2007, for which he is still on probation. His court file notes that Hill was abusive to jail staff during a prior incarceration in Flathead County.
