Arlee girls' track team wins Dave Tripp meet

This past week, the Polson track team had some great individual performances.

Last Tuesday, April 12, the Polson track team traveled to Kalispell. Jacob Clairmont had a great day, taking top honors in the pole vault and second in both the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Also placing in the 300 hurdles was Danny DiGiallonardo, who took sixth. Other top six finishers included Matt Rensvold, Tanner Wilson, and Colton Cote, who took fourth, fifth, and sixth in the 200-meter race. Mike Mercer also took sixth in the one mile. Both the short and long relay teams also placed in the top six.

For the girls, Erin Sampson had a nice day, taking fourth in the javelin and fifth in the shot put. Molly Sitter also placed in two events. She took third in the two mile and sixth in the one mile. Mikaela Ducharme took fourth in the 400 and sixth in the triple jump, behind teammate Chadelle Smith, who took fourth.

On Saturday, Polson and Ronan traveled to Missoula. No Ronan kids were able to place in the top six to score points. For Polson, Jacob Clairmont was the only individual to score points. He won the pole vault with a jump of 13-06, took second in the 110 hurdles, and took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 21 feet. The 400-meter relay took sixth place. That team consisted of Danny DiGiallonardo, Walter Wood, Jacob Clairmont, and Colton Cote.

In the girls’ competition, Ally Buhr scored the only points for Ronan when she took fourth place in the pole vault with a jump of 8-06. For Polson, Erin Sampson took second in the shot put.

Arlee, Mission, and TER all traveled to Thompson Falls on Thursday, April 14.

The Arlee girls took third place behind Thompson Falls and Plains. Among the winners for Arlee were Ashley Revis in the 200, Natalie Yocum in the two mile, and Carly Hergett in the 300 hurdles. Revis also took second in the 100-meter dash and helped the 1600-meter relay team to a first place finish. Yocum was also on that team and took second in the 800.

For the Mission girls, Sydney Castor had a great day, taking third in the 200, fourth in the triple jump, fifth in the long jump, and fifth in the 100. Afton Brander added points by scoring in all five of her events including a win in the 100-meter hurdles. She also took third place in the triple jump, third in the 300 hurdles, and fourth in the high and long jumps. Mariah Durglo added a fourth place finish in the shot put and Nalani Linsbigler took sixth in the high jump for the Bulldogs.

For Two Eagle River, Danielle Adler led the team with a third place finish in the shot put, and Megan Caye added a fourth place finish in the 200.

In the boys’ competition, Arlee and Mission finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Harold Yocum of Arlee was the only athlete from either school to take a first place finish. He won the 110 hurdles, then took fourth in the 300 hurdles. Isaac Desjarlias took second in the long jump, Aaron Perry took second in the 200 and James Crazyboy took fourth in the two mile. Perry also took third in the 100.

For Mission, Nick Durlgo finished second in the 100, and Kaleb Durglo added a third place finish in the 110 hurdles and a fifth place finish in the 100. Nick Durglo also took fourth in the discus. Tate Weingart took fourth in the one mile. The short relay also did well, taking second behind Thompson Falls.

In a smaller meet on Saturday in Polson, Charlo and Arlee competed. The Arlee girls, who have been in a tight back and forth contest with Plains all season for team points, took the win this time. Charlo followed them in second.

Carly Hergett had a career day, winning all four of her individual events and helping get another win in the 1600 relay. She won both hurdles races, the long jump, and the triple jump in her individual events. Ashley Revis also had a stellar day, winning the 100, 200, 400, and running on the winning 1600 relay team. Abby Yocum added a win in the high jump, a third place finish in the triple jump, a fourth place finish in the long jump, and a fifth place finish in the 300 hurdles. Alyce Corcoran added a second place finish in the pole vault and a sixth place finish in the triple jump.

For Charlo, Taylor McCready got the only individual win, but the 400 relay team also won. That team was made up of Kaitlyn Cox, Allie Delaney, Cheyenne Nagy, and Kara Tatukivei. Tatukivei, a freshman, also took third in the 100, third in the long jump, and fifth in the 200, along with running on the 1600 relay team that took third. Delaney, another freshman, took second in the 200, third in the 400, and made the finals in the javelin. A third freshman, Cox, took second in the triple jump, third in the 100 hurdles, and third in the 300 hurdles. Sakoya Gaustad took second in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

For Two Eagle River, Danielle Adler scored six points point by taking third in the shot put.

In the boys competition, Charlo took second as a team and Arlee took third. Dugan Runkle had two wins for the Vikings. He took top honors in the shot put and discus. Landers Smith won the pole vault, Bridger Smith won the javelin, Wills DeGrandpre won the two mile, Jared Doty won the 200, and the 400 relay team added 10 more points. Doty also took third in the 100, Landers Smith added a third place finish in the 400, and DeGrandpre added a fourth place finish in the one mile. Kane Shenyer added a third place finish in the long jump, fourth in the discus, and fifth in the triple jump.

For Arlee, Isacc Desjarlais won both the 100 and 400. He also ran on the winning 1600 relay and took second in the long jump. Harold Yocum added points in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Aaron Perry took second in the 200, fourth in the 100 and sixth in the high jump, along with running on the winning relay. Brian Baker took second in the triple jump, third in the high jump, and sixth in the long jump.
