Ronan girls win home meet

Last Tuesday, the Ronan golf team held their home meet at the Mission Mountain Golf Course. The girls’ team had a great day, winning by 11 over Thompson Falls. Brooklyn Olson led the team, shooting a 94. Teammate Kaitlyn Woirhaye came in right behind her with a 96. A few shots back was Lauryn Hales, who came in ninth with a 107.

For the boys, Fisher Niemeyer and Vincent Bird Webster led the team to a fourth place finish. They each shot an 83 to tie for eighth place.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Plains. In that tournament, Fisher Niemeyer was the only Chief to place in the top ten. He shot an 82 to finish in eighth place. The team took third overall.

Only two teams were able to qualify for the girls’ team standings. Ronan, who had came out ahead of Thompson Falls in their home meet, fell behind them Saturday by seven strokes. Brooklyn Olson led the team again, shooting a 103 to finish in fifth place. Four shots behind her was Kaitlyn Woirhaye, who shot a 107 to take seventh. Tania Ulutoa continued to improve, breaking into the top ten with a 111. Lauryn Hales was three shots behind her with a 114 to take tenth.

Colorado swimmers take on Flathead Lake

Mark Johnston may not have had the best of luck during his attempt to swim the length of Flathead Lake three weeks ago, but last Friday, he guided two of his friends though 15 hours of a grueling swim on the lake.

First Paddle for Clean Water benefits Flathead Lakers

The first-annual Paddle for Clean Water took place on a cool Sunday morning at Flathead Lake’s King’s Point. Over 100 people participated in the event, which aimed to raise money for the Flathead Lakers, a conservation organization in Polson. Even with the chilly start, nobody backed out. In fact, they had a few extras. One of the organizers, Dana Johnston, said she was happy with the turnout.

The cherries around Flathead Lake will be harvested earlier than usual this year.
