Students earn journalism awards

Kalispell, Bigfork and Whitefish high school journalism students were well-represented in the recent Montana Journalism Education Association contest, getting 19 awards.
Entries were judged by University of Montana School of Journalism faculty members.
In addition to the awards ceremony, students from 23 high schools attended workshops presented by University of Montana faculty at the Montana Journalism High School Day on April 14.
Bigfork High School’s student newspaper, the Norse Code, was given the second-place Newspaper Pacesetter Award for being “continuing to impress year after year” with content that’s fresh and relevant to students.
The Norse Code also won second place for Newspaper Design.
The Flathead Arrow, Flathead High School’s student newspaper, received a third-place Newspaper Pacesetter Award noted for its efforts to cover hard news.
