GOLF: Record round propels Libby's Johnston in Thompson Falls

THOMPSON FALLS — Ryggs Johnston of Libby shot a tournament record 68 to win the Thompson Falls Invitational at River’s Bend Golf Course on Saturday.
It was the fourth medalist honor of the season for the freshman. He’s been the runner-up in his other three outings.
Joseph Potkonjak of Bigfork was second and 10 shots back. Libby’s Jonny Cielak carded an 80 to finish third.
Libby took the team title with a 341 score.
Thompson Falls, 357, was second and Bigfork, 363, third.
Whitney Micklon of Thompson Falls was the girls medalist with a 90.
Tinia Ulutoa of Ronan, 95, was second.
Eureka had two top 10 performers — Darian Truman, 102, was fifth and Popla Swamgsawai, 107, was ninth.
Libby’s Lily Feeback, 103, placed sixth.
Thompson Falls won the girls title with a 402 score. Ronan, 424, was second and Eureka, 459, third.
