TENNIS: Flathead, Whitefish split dual at FVCC; Polson sweeps Columbia Falls

Whitefish and Flathead worked to a split in a nonconference tennis dual on an overcast Tuesday at the Flathead Valley Community College tennis courts.
The Whitefish boys swept to an 8-0 win, winning each match in straight sets. Max Smyley, Nathan Fauth, Thomas Carloss and Cole Turgeon each won with relative ease in singles play.
The Bulldogs’ top two doubles teams of Chaffin Ross and Ethan Pothoff and Ryan Brown and Brendan Buls dropped a combined one game in their two matches. Jack Kahle and Austin Reese won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 doubles and Noah Fauth and Chris Kellogg won by default at No. 4.
The Flathead girls were strong in singles play and won a tight match at doubles to top Whitefish 5-3. Ellie Berreth, Rayna Darrow, Claire Bradley and Lauren McCarter combined to sweep singles play for the Bravettes. A tight tie-breaker 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 win from Liz Stone and Hannah Holderbaum at No. 2 doubles clinched the victory for Flathead.
The Whitefish girls won the other three doubles matches with the teams of Heather Luedtke and Hannah Madsen and Cailyn Ross and Amara McDaniel winning rather easily. Janette Kolarzik and Paige Sproul legged out a comeback 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 doubles.

Polson at Columbia Falls
COLUMBIA FALLS — Polson swept Columbia Falls in a Northwestern A tennis dual on Tuesday.
The Polson boys picked apart the Wildcats, winning all three singles matches in straight sets on the way to a 6-0 dual win. The only long match came in a come from behind, three-set victory for the Pirates No. 1 doubles duo of Quade Harlan and Colin Kearny, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Columbia Falls girls held close with Polson in singles, but couldn’t keep pace in pairs, falling 5-2 to the Pirates.
Emily Getts won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Harley Molchan edged out a one of three long three set matches behind her for the Wildkats. Polson won the other two marathons, with Molly Lemm picking up a three setter at No. 2 and Shea McGuiness at No. 4. Polson swept three matches in doubles play, all in straight sets.
