Well into the spring track season, many local athletes are leading their respective classes in the best times and distances. Many of those marks were made just this past weekend. Among those were by Polson’s Mariah Corrigan, who threw the javelin 133-5 feet to set the standard for Class A girls. Along with having the best mark in Class A by over five feet, she also ranks fifth throughout all classes.

Last Tuesday, Charlo and Ronan traveled to Missoula for a quad meet. Ronan’s Jackson Duffey had a good day, taking top honors in the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter races. Teammate Nathan Dennis followed him in second in both the one and two mile races.

Charlo’s Dugan Runkel had wins in both the shot put and the discus, and currently has marks among the best in Class C. Teammate Jared Doty also had good day, taking second in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 100-meter dash.

For the Ronan girls, Ally Buhr won the pole vault and Lee Camel took second in both the long and triple jump competitions, along with a second place finish in the shot put.

Charlo freshman Allie Delaney had an impressive day, taking second in the 200, third in the 100, and third in the javelin.

Thursday evening, Polson and Charlo traveled to Corvallis for a twilight meet. Delaney made some more noise that night in the 200, where she beat out some much more experienced athletes to take a win in 27.49. She was the only Charlo girl to win an event.

For Polson, Bea Frissell took a win in the 800 and was followed by teammate Charlee Cote. Frissell also took third in the one mile.

Also winning events for Polson were Mariah Corrigan in the javelin, Molly Sitter in the two mile, and Erin Sampson in the shot put.

For the Charlo boys, Michael Delaney won the 100 with a time of 11.25, which put him in the top ten for all-class times. Dugan Runkel was the other Viking to win an event, which was in the shot put.

For Polson, Jacob Clairmont had three wins. He won both hurdles races and the pole vault. He currently ranks in the top 11 all-class in each of those events. He also took second in the long jump behind teammate Danny DiGiallonardo. DiGiallonardo also took third in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter dash.

The Ronan track teams held a relay meet Thursday, which included teams from Noxon and Hot Springs. The relay meet added together different distances and used only a few field events.
